2014 was a great year at Dot--the best year yet, actually!
Hey guys, It's Hallie Darphin. Thanks so much for being a part of the Dot Community this past year. With each of your purchases and donations, we sent eleven children to school for the entire school year! You guys blew my little dreams out of the water, and I'm so thankful. Check out the recap of our past six months since our June launch!
After a year of planning, I launched for pre-orders in June. We started with three products--binders, lined journals, and pencil sets. At our launch, we had partners in Mexico and Congo. Within a week, you had fully funded our first student, Louise (female, 2nd grade) in Lac Verct, Congo. Even before we had product, I got to hang out with the campers at Judson Baptist Retreat Center and tell them about the difference they could make in children's lives around the world through their school supply purchases!
July was a big month! We received products: boxes and boxes of American-made journals, binders, and newspaper pencils! We had our official launch party and awesome wonderful friends packed our first three hundred boxes of pencils. At the end of July, Dot Products started shipping, landing beautiful American-made products in the hands of people all over America.
August was all about product. Students were heading back to school, and we headed to the post office with packages almost everyday of the month! We loved seeing all the ways you guys were using your Dot! We hung out with college students at Mississippi College and Millsaps College and hosted a tent at Fondren After Five, a monthly Jackson festival. Together, the Dot Community funded a year of school for two students, Paulin (male, 6th grade) and Ushindi (female, 3rd grade) in Lac Verct, Congo in the month of August!
In September, we released our map image as Dot made it to TWENTY STATES!! That was thanks to people around the country sharing on social media! Two of our favorite bloggers, Kelle Hampton and Hannah Brencher, shared Dot with their corners of the world and helped us fund another student, Dieula (female) in La Verct, Congo! Through donations, we also funded another Congolese student, Mitima (male, 3rd grade) and our first Mexican student from Matamoros Children's Home!
In October, the Dot team grew from one to two as I welcomed our first intern, Morgan Barber! Morgan was an invaluable part of the development of Dot this year, and our future interns have bit shoes to fill! We launched our Custom Journals and sent 350 awesome journals to Radish Lab in Brooklyn, New York. These journals funded more than six months of school for our students in Congo. Through sales and donations this month, we fully funded our first two children at the Matamoros Children's Home in Mexico.
November meant a new partnership (our second in Africa) with Glorious Orphan Care and School in Tanzania! We fell in love with Tumaini (male, second grade), who would be our first child sponsored with Glorious. We launched our Holiday Gift Guide right before Black Friday and loved seeing how y'all supported other organizations and companies around the globe. We partnered with one of those companies, Noonday Collection, at a homeshow in our hometown of Jackson, MS!
December meant Christmas and we were overwhelmed with your generosity. This month, we partnered with Mary Frances Flowers jewelry, Pinelake Church Middle School Ministry, and a number of individuals to fully fund three years of school for students in Mexico and both Tumaini and Grace (female, kindergarten)! We also firmed up plans to move into a beautiful office in early January, the perfect Christmas gift and end to our incredible year.
...And so much more!
Thank you again for the part that each and every one of you have played, whether it's been buying product, donating, sharing on social media, storing boxes in spare bedrooms, packing boxes, or falling in love with each and every one of the sweet faces we've shared. Your support has been incredible, and you are truly changing lives, one school supply at a time.
I've spent the past few days planning for 2015, and I can't wait to share this next section of the adventure with you! We've got big plans. Just a few of the things on the list for 2015 are a beautiful new office, three intern classes, a ROADTRIP, speaking at churches, schools and other groups, and a rocking 1st anniversary party. Save the date for June 18th in Jackson, Mississippi!
Love, so much love,
Dot Products, Founder and CEO
