Hey team, Hallie here!
I heard a quote once that said "Alone we can't do much, but together we can do everything," and it's become somewhat of my mantra. Today, I want to tell you a little bit about our process, the people we work with, and how we choose the kids we sponsor.
Meet Grace. She's 5 and a kindergartener at the Glorious School in Tanzania where her parents are teachers. My heart skipped a beat when I first saw this picture. Every few weeks, I fall in love with a new face like Grace's when it pops into my email box from one of our partners. I like to think we sponsor education for the most beautiful, bright children around the world, and Grace is certainly proof of that!
There are a lot of really incredible people around the world caring for other people living in poverty. People who have given up everything to help those in need. Dot believes vehemently in those people, and it's our mission to see both them and the people they serve succeed. We aim to see people all around the world come out of poverty through education.
Our partnership criteria is simple:
1. Our partners must be established as an education provider in the communities they currently serve (whether that's as a children's home, education foundation, school, or otherwise).
2. The leaders of the organization must love Jesus and be committed to serving the children with His love.
3. We have to be able to get semi-regular updates on the Dot sponsored students (and be able to share them with you!).
Right now, we partner with organizations with whom Dot had existing relationships. Long-term, we want to open the doors to fund other organizations and help teachers in countries around the world grow their educational system. We see Dot as more than just a money flow. We are education advocates, and we believe that education (only second to Jesus) will change the face of poverty around the world forever. We're crazy enough to think we can do it in our lifetime.
We currently work with three organizations and fund a year of school for one student per organization at a time. (Our Congo students are fully funded for the 2014-2015 school year!) Check our Instagram or sign up for our email newsletter for updates on the children we sponsor.
